Fertility Consultations

Whether you are just beginning your fertility journey or have already undergone months or years of treatment without success, your initial consultation is a crucial step toward understanding why conception has been difficult and how we can help.

Our fertility specialists, Dr Antony Lighten and Dr Greg Jenkins, take the time to understand your medical background, concerns and goals, ensuring that your personalised treatment plan aligns with your unique situation.

Diagnostic Testing & Ultrasound

Diagnostic testing helps identify the underlying factors contributing to infertility so we can create the most effective treatment pathway.

For Women

  • Blood tests to assess hormone levels

  • Ovarian reserve testing

  • Pelvic ultrasound

  • Specialised imaging to evaluate the uterus and fallopian tubes

For Men

  • Semen analysis

  • Sperm DNA fragmentation

  • Hormone testing

These investigations provide clarity, direction and a strong foundation for personalised care.

Some patients require specialised endocrine assessment. We collaborate with Professor Steven Boyages, a highly experienced and respected endocrinologist, to support patients with complex hormonal issues including thyroid and pituitary disorders in both men and women.

Our doctors perform a wide range of surgical procedures to address conditions that impact fertility, including:

  • Endometriosis

  • Ovarian cysts

  • Uterine abnormalities

  • Endometrial polyps

Procedures are performed at both Bond Day Hospital or Norwest Private Hospital.

Fertility Surgery

Fertility Treatments & IVF

Achieving successful fertility outcomes requires a carefully structured, personalised and well-planned approach. Our specialists have refined a treatment system grounded in decades of experience and world-class laboratory support.

Ovulation Treatment & Cycle Tracking
Some patients only require simple treatment to improve ovulation and optimise timing of intercourse. Our doctors perform all ultrasound monitoring themselves, ensuring continuity, accuracy and patient comfort.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
IUI may be recommended for patients experiencing:

  • Difficulty with functional intercourse

  • Mild male-factor infertility

  • Endometriosis

This treatment involves concentrating sperm and placing it directly into the uterus at the time of ovulation. IUI may be performed in a natural cycle or with medication such as Letrozole or FSH.

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)
IVF involves combining eggs and sperm in our state-of-the-art IVF laboratory to create embryos. Once the embryos develop, a carefully selected embryo is transferred into the uterus to establish a pregnancy.

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection- IVF (ICSI-IVF)
ICSI is an advanced form of IVF used when male-factor infertility is present — such as very low sperm count, reduced motility or previous IVF fertilisation issues.

A single healthy sperm is injected into an egg with microscopic precision, increasing the likelihood of fertilisation where sperm may otherwise struggle to penetrate the egg.

ICSI-IVF provides an excellent option for couples who require additional support during fertilisation, ensuring every viable egg has the best chance to develop.

Genetic Testing

We offer world-leading genetic testing as part of our commitment to providing the highest standard of fertility care. Minerva Fertility partners with Cooper Genomics, the world’s largest and most advanced provider of IVF genetic testing. This collaboration ensures that patients have access to the most accurate and sophisticated embryo testing technology available.

Types of Genetic Testing Available
We provide a full suite of pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT), including:

  • PGT-A - Chromosome screening to identify embryos with the correct number of chromosomes, improving implantation rates and reducing miscarriage risk.

  • PGT-SR – Testing for chromosomal structural rearrangements such as translocations.

  • PGT-M – Testing for single-gene disorders in families with known inherited conditions.

These tests help identify the healthiest embryos for transfer and provide greater confidence in treatment planning.

Why We Use Cooper Genomics
Cooper Genomics employs patented molecular technologies that are not available in other genetic testing laboratories. These methods deliver exceptionally reliable results and allow for more detailed analysis of embryo genetics.

Their platform integrates artificial intelligence to assist in interpreting complex genetic information, further improving accuracy and reducing the likelihood of inconclusive or unclear results.

Rescuing Embryos Other Clinics Discard
A unique advantage of Cooper Genomics is its ability to analyse embryos with uncertain fertilisation, which many other clinics routinely discard.

Using their advanced molecular techniques, they can confirm whether an embryo contains a normal complement of chromosomes from both parents. This means some embryos that would otherwise be lost may still be suitable for testing and transfer.

This approach gives patients more opportunities for success from each IVF cycle.

Minerva Fertility Bella Vista

Our IVF Laboratory

Our team of highly qualified embryologists, each with 30+ years of experience at leading IVF clinics, offers a full range of IVF and ICSI-IVF treatments. We go above and beyond in the following areas.

Time Lapse Embryo Culture
The IVF laboratory uses, as standard treatment in all patients, undisturbed continuous embryo culture combined with time-lapse photography (Vitrolife EmbryoScope+). On top of this we use artificial intelligence software to assist with embryo grading and selection.

RI Witness Laboratory Monitoring System
Patients can be reassured that Minerva Fertility uses the RI Witness system with Radio Frequency Indentification, to detect and monitor all activity in the IVF laboratory. The system helps mitigate the risk of human error every time samples are move from one dish or tube to another in the IVF cycle.

Advanced Embryo Culture Media
The laboratory uses the latest advanced culture media containing anti-oxidants. Embryo glue is standard for all fresh embryo transfers. An alternative culture system using the growth factor Gm-CSF is available for patients with poor embryo progression.

Clean Air
The IVF laboratory is equipped with the highest specification of clean air, airflow, and temperature control systems. It even features a "submarine mode" to protect against air contamination during events like burn-offs and bushfires.

Sperm Preparation
The IVF laboratory selects the most appropriate sperm preparation based on the sperm testing.

Our standard preparation uses a Zymot device. This utilises microfluidics to eliminate sperm with DNA fragmentation, achieving better pregnancy rates, and reduced risk of miscarriage.

In patients with very low concentrations and motility, not suitable for Zymot, we use a more standard density gradient, SpermGrad containing a media with silica particles.

Lifestyle & Holistic Support

Optimising fertility involves more than medical treatment alone. Our integrated approach supports both partners in creating the healthiest environment possible for conception.

To support this journey, we have assembled a highly skilled team.

Dr David Mann is an experienced dietitian, supports nutrition and metabolic health.
Sally Findlay offers specialised psychological support to help navigate the emotional challenges of fertility treatment.

Dr Clara Chu is a GP specialising in lifestyle medicine, working with patients to make meaningful changes that promote reproductive health and overall wellness.

Together, this team offers a supportive, holistic framework to enhance every stage of your fertility journey.

Early Pregnancy Management

Patients who have experienced the grief of pregnancy loss, benefit from close supervision in the 1st trimester. Treatments and psychological support are given. Once patients are through the period of risk, they are seamlessly handed over to their obstetrician to manage the rest of the pregnancy.
